I believe something is seriously wrong with the Summer 2007 Apple (ipod and/or printer) rebate procedure. Lets figure it out and get our money back...

I shouldn't have to be a rocket scientist or a lawyer or detective to get my rebate back.

I love the lost in the mail excuse used by so many rebate agencies including apple. I have literally sent out hundreds of items through the USPS to the US and many other countries around the world and have yet to lose a single letter or package. The USPS may lose some packages or letters, but not as many that are claimed by apple. This claim would translate into a large percent of lost mail if it were applied nationwide (I hope that made sense). Here is my story so far...
I completed the online submission form and sent in the requested form, original sales receipt with both the mac and ipod on it, and original upc codes.
It has been just about 3 weeks since they have RECEIVED the requested items in the mail. There has been no update on the online status update or through the apple rebate number. The representative told me that it can take 2 to 3 weeks to be entered into the system and told me to call back after this time frame. The representative also said that since this is such a high volume rebate that they can not update my status at every stage in the process.
When I purchased my mac and ipod, the salesperson said not to worry about the rebate because the rebate is processed in house by apple, not by some third party rebate company. After reading so many of the horror stories online, I have become worried that I may not get my rebate check or I will have to work for it.
My only advice for you is to try contacting Apple directly, not the rebate center.
I will keep you and the rest of your readers updated. Good luck with the site and hopefully all these problems with the rebate get picked up by the media. I am sure there are lots of others that have yet to speak out about this issue.
I did the same scammy rebate as you and I'm hearing the same bullshit excuses. I've already filed a complaint at RipoffReport.com and the Better Business Bureau. I'm going to file with the Indiana Attorney General's office tomorrow. I want my damn $199.
This scam got me too. At the end of last year ('07) I bought the iPod rebate as well, and was informed that it takes 30 days or some shit. I just found out that they "never received" my UPCs from the box, and that the rebate ended in 2007, so even if they had them it would be too late.
ok. so i never followed through with this blog much because i did end up getting my money back. don't bother too much trying to get it from the actual rebate people on the rebate phone number. they'll just tell you 'we're sorry but there's nothing we can do for you' over and over. i emailed steve jobs (google around for his email, i forget what it was, just send it to all of the email addresses that say it is his). i got through to an actual apple customer service person. told them my problem. told them i simply did not believe it got lost in the mail, that i did everything right, i had copies of all the receipts etc. i filled out some form, lost upc affidavit or something, sent them all the documentation, this time i sent it all registered mail, and it finally went through and i got my check. so don't give up. yes it's a big hassle. no i still don't believe it was lost in the mail. yes apple out of any company should be able to make a process like this fool-proof, just like they are so good at taking our money so easily whenever we want to buy a product of theirs etc. i guess we all need to learn that we can't trust ANY company when they say they are not responsible for things being lost in the mail, and we always have to send that stuff registered/certified mail. good luck to all...
