I am currently experiencing a problem with getting the $200 rebate for the apple ipod which I purchased in June of 2007, and I believe that Apple's rebate policies suck. I do not believe they are being honest with me, and/or that their rebate departement is capable of handling this rebate process.
The purpose of this blog is to -
1. Find out if other people are experiencing similar problems.
2. If so, figure out how to get our money.
3.. Figure out if Apple is being illegally deceptive and fraudulent with its rebate process, and if so, encourage an investigation of their business practices.
4. Encourage Apple to not only make superior, beautiful products which we consumers are willing to spend decent money for, but also to be a company which demonstrates that they are not going to intentionally rip us off, EVEN WITH THE OFTEN ANNOYING REBATE PROCESS!!!
Lets face it - Apple is great at making things simple. Merrily scrolling through my ipod with the beautiful little touch-wheel... Working with my precious photos in iphoto and making a book out of them with a smile upon my face... Easily finding an album in itunes which I am delighted to buy... Apple makes it all so easy, and fun (and expensive, but I accept that). If Apple really wanted to, I'm sure they are technically capable of making the rebate procedure as efficient, painless and simple as the rest of their products and software, and perhaps as uplifting as their advertisements. I bet it could be done in just three, or maybe five, clicks....
What I do not accept is that Apple thanks us for our loyalty with less than stellar rebate policy which appears to me to be a scam. Yes, rebates are always 'sort of' a scam. Some people just never remember to send those things in, and they're millionaires so they don't really care, and the company can save a bit of money. But when you do everything exactly as they said to do, and Apple tells you that 'it was lost in the mail', something is wrong.
I encourage and welcome any ideas as to how to make this site as effective as possible. Please leave comments, ideas, suggestions.
I encourage everyone to leave comments which explain (in detail) your problem with the apple rebate process, if you are having any.
